I get a lot of clients asking me when is the best time they should plan a trip to Charleston and Folly Beach for a good inshore fishing experience. When are the fish biting? Thankfully, our coastal area provides a rich habitat for fish year round, but spring is an especially great time to seek out those trophy bull reds. The baitfish and shrimp that red drum love to munch on move back into the estuaries. That means these fish are now officially on the move and ready for some good eating after a winter of scarce food available. Spring is a great time to not only catch bull reds, but a variety of other species like trout and flounder for the same reason. Their food has moved back into the area and they're all hungry. Beyond that, the weather has warmed up so it's an enjoyable time to be on a boat, high season pricing at nearby hotels in Charleston, Folly Beach, and Kiawah hasn't quite kicked in yet so you're still likely to find more overnight accommodations available at a lower price, and the restaurants and bars will be lively, but not overwhelmingly busy. Give Tight Line Outfitters a call now and we'll be happy to get you out on the water during this active springtime season for some fun fishing!
